during a joint news conference, panetta invited karzai to washington to meet with president obama at the white house. we are joined live from kabul. do we know president karzai's response to that invitt nation it comes at an interesting time he gave a controversial interview blaming the u.s. and nato for some of the problems he sees existing in afghanistan. >> reporter: he blamed some of the insecurity here, in part on u.s. and nato forces, their continued presence, their behavior toward the afghan people and the fact that they are still here. we don't yet know what will come of negotiations that are to be continuing next year, if karzai does, in fact, come to the states while necessary d.c. to meet with president obama. we did receive a statement from a u.s. official today on the invitation from the white house, saying that they hope that the negotiations will continue to lay out the rules of the road for a "potential u.s. military presence after 2014." and that is one of the issues that looms large over any talks between the u.s. and afghan officials these days. we know it was a to
